Family Support Volunteers Needed - Home Start Hillingdon

Are you a parent or grandparent?
Do you have 2 to 3 hours a week to spare?
Next Volunteer Course Starts: Thursday 8th October 2026.
6 Sessions on Thursdays 9:30am to 2:00pm (term time only).
Home Start Hillingdon is a local charity that supports families with young children who are facing challenges such as isolation, poor mental health, financial pressures, and difficulties managing day-to-day family life.
Home Start Hillingdon are currently recruiting new volunteers and their exceptional 6-week training course, ongoing support, and thorough safety plans enable volunteers to feel safe and empowered to enable change for struggling families in Hillingdon. Volunteers say that their development programme has helped them achieve personal goals, including confidence building, upskilling, offering effective support, and knowledge of local services.
As a volunteer, you will support families experiencing challenges such as mental health difficulties, disability, multiple births, or social isolation. You will visit the family once a week for 2 to 3 hours over a period of up to six months, providing emotional support, practical assistance, and encouragement. By building a trusting relationship, you will help parents develop confidence, strengthen their support networks, and access relevant local services and community resources to improve their wellbeing and family life.
Every volunteer helps ensure that local children and families receive the practical and emotional support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.
