Rosedale College Open Evening

24th September 2019

On Tuesday 24th September, Rosedale College is looking forward to welcoming all members of the community who are eager to explore the opportunity to send their child (who is currently in Year 5 or 6) to a school which offers: dynamic teachers, an engaging curriculum and a variety of academic and vocational subject choices in Key Stage 4 and Post 16. Visitors will be given the opportunity to not only enjoy a guided tour around the College, but will also have ample time to gain an insight into the College’s curriculum, how it is delivered and its reception across all three Key Stages. During the course of the evening, staff will endeavour to mesmerise all visitors with a multitude of interesting and fun learning activities that will be taking place. Here at Rosedale College, the belief is that a hands-on approach to learning results in creating exceptional lifelong learners. The College will be open from 6:00pm to 9.00pm; the College Principal, Mrs Kapadia, will address all visitors at 6:30pm and then again at 7:30pm.

We have had the pleasure of basking in the success of our sporting teams. From 2018 to 2019, our Key Stage 4 team achieved silver medals in the Borough Basketball tournament and the Year 8 Cricket team celebrated becoming Borough Champions in Cricket – which

is a credit to the staff who have worked diligently to create this success. All students are given the opportunity to bring learning to life through excursions locally (interfaith trip to the Synagogue), nationally (University of Southampton and Oxford) and internationally (Poland, Italy and France). In addition, students take advantage of their close proximity to London, thus make the most of going to places such as London Zoo, Royal Observatory and the Natural History Museum. The College offers personalised curriculum pathways and ensures students are fully catered for: ‘The progress of all pupils is evaluated regularly so that any gaps in their understanding are identified and additional support is quickly arranged. This ensures that all pupils make rapid progress towards their individual target grades’ (Ofsted, November 2016).

We are delighted to report that students at Rosedale College have continued to improve their levels of attainment and achievement and the College has once again, performed above the National averages in English and Mathematics. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of students and our highly motivated and committed staff. The ‘Progress 8’ score for 2019 has shown an improvement; this continued upward trajectory clearly demonstrates the outstanding progress our students are continuing to make. For a large majority of our students, these results will enable them to progress onto Post 16 courses or explore apprenticeships.

The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust is a culmination of four secondary schools that collectively offer a wide range of 14 to 19 core and vocational courses, catering for students with different abilities and interests. Partnerships with local stakeholders, businesses and other organisations further enhance and enrich the curriculum options available. Exceptional teaching, high expectations and committed leadership has resulted in Post 16 students thriving.

The College has a proven track record of adding value to students’ overall attainment and achievement, with a majority choosing to pursue undergraduate courses at universities locally, nationally and some have even ventured to international institutes. The College has good facilities including specialist accommodation for Mathematics, Computer Science, Design Technology, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students also enjoy good sporting facilities, including a high-tech floodlit synthetic turf pitch and a recently refurbished Sports Hall, as well as the use of the Multi-Use Games Area. We are all really looking forward to welcoming you to our college on Tuesday 24th September.
